No alcohol, no sparkling wine – it’s as simple as that. Even legally speaking. In particular, alcohol content is clearly stipulated: For quality sparkling wine, it must be at least 10 per cent, however in some cases, it can be more than 12. Alcohol initially doesn’t add a taste of its own to the wine, however, it does have a euphorigenic and stimulating effect in sparkling wine, due to the carbonic acid. What’s more, it’s only dangerous and harmful if abused.
